When Survival Comes Before Dreams

Across Uganda, many young people are carrying the weight of survival before they even get the chance to dream.

Forevery day, countless young people wake up thinking about survival before they even think about their future.

While others are in classrooms chasing their dreams, many vulnerable youth are working long hours in markets, selling food by the roadside, or searching for any small opportunity to help support their families.

Poverty has forced many young people to grow up too quickly.

Some had to abandon school because their families could no longer afford basic education. Others are struggling to survive in communities where unemployment, hunger, and financial hardship continue to affect everyday life. Yet despite these painful realities, many still continue fighting for a better future with courage and determination.

What many people do not see is the emotional burden behind these struggles.

The pressure of trying to survive. The fear of having no stable future. The silent pain of watching dreams slowly disappear because opportunities are limited.

At ChildCare Foundation, we believe every young person deserves more than just survival. They deserve opportunity, dignity, education and hope. Through our economic empowerment initiatives and community outreach, we continue working to help vulnerable youth and families rebuild their lives.

Because one opportunity can completely change someone’s future.

When young people are empowered, entire communities become stronger. Families become more stable. Children stay in school. Hope begins to return.

This is why we continue standing with vulnerable communities across Uganda helping young people move from survival to self-reliance and from hopelessness to possibility.
