Safe Births For every Woman

For many women with disabilities pregnancy is a path walked through shadows where every step toward a clinic, every visit for a scan and every moment of care can feel like climbing a mountain no one else sees. They face a world that doubts their strength a healthcare system not built for their needs and the quiet fear of being left behind when it matters most. Yet even in the face of these impossible odds, they carry life forward with unmatched courage, resilience and hope.

Physical barriers make even simple healthcare visits daunting. Inaccessible hospitals, lack of adaptive equipment and transport challenges mean routine antenatal care or emergency visits often become high-risk journeys. The reality is that without the right support these women are far more vulnerable to complications and poor outcomes during pregnancy and delivery.

Stgma and discrimination add another heavy layer. Many women with disabilities in our community encounter judgment or disbelief from healthcare providers, family members and society discouraging them from seeking the care they need. This isolation deepens anxiety, fear and vulnerability during a period that should be filled with support, preparation and joy.

Economic hardship compounds the struggle. Limited income opportunities make it difficult to cover medical bills, buy nutritious food or access essential medicines. Without timely support, the combination of poverty, systemic barriers and societal prejudice can turn a hopeful pregnancy into a life-threatening ordeal highlighting why inclusive maternal care is not just a necessity it is a moral imperative.
